Terms and Conditions

Clear expectations for payment, scheduling, website use, and starting services

Effective Date: March 28, 2026

These terms explain the basic website and practice policies Jennifer Wisser-Stokes Counseling LLC wants visitors and clients to understand. They are meant to keep expectations clear around website use, payment, scheduling, cancellations, and related matters.

Website use

This website is provided for general information about the practice, services, contact options, and next steps. By using this website, you agree to use it only for lawful and appropriate purposes.

Website inquiry forms and general contact methods are intended for brief administrative or consult-related messages. Please do not submit detailed clinical, legal, emergency, or highly sensitive information through a standard website form.

No therapist-client relationship through the website alone

Browsing this website, reading its content, or submitting a general inquiry does not by itself create a therapist-client relationship. That relationship begins only after the practice has determined that services are appropriate and the required intake, consent, and scheduling steps have been completed.

Private pay and payment terms

Jennifer Wisser-Stokes Counseling LLC is a private-pay, out-of-network practice. Payment is the responsibility of the client or, when applicable, the parent or legal guardian, and payment is due at the time services are rendered.

The practice does not bill insurance companies directly. Superbills may be provided upon request for clients who want to seek possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Please note that using a superbill usually requires diagnosis and service information. Once that information is submitted to an insurance company, the practice cannot control how it is stored, reviewed, or used by that insurer.

Step Up for Unique Abilities

If Step Up for Unique Abilities funding is being used, funds should be reserved before the appointment whenever possible. This helps keep session time focused on care rather than portal troubleshooting.

For step-by-step help, visit the Step Up Scholarship Guide.

Cancellations and missed appointments

A minimum of 24 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

If the required notice is not given, a $75 missed appointment fee may be charged to the card on file or otherwise become due. Limited exceptions may be made for circumstances such as severe weather, hospitalization, car accidents, or other unavoidable emergencies, based on the practice's judgment.

If a client arrives late, the practice will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the missed time when possible. Late arrival does not guarantee that the full session length can still be provided.

Additional fees

Some services outside routine appointments may involve additional charges. This can include requested summaries, forms, or other documentation prepared at the client's request when clinically and administratively appropriate.

When applicable, these requests may be billed based on the time required to complete the work.

Court-related requests

Court-related requests, testimony, and legal involvement are outside the normal scope of treatment services and are subject to a separate court-related policy, different fees, and advance payment requirements.

The practice does not provide custody recommendations, parenting-plan recommendations, or advocacy opinions for court in the role of treating therapist.

Overdue balances

If a balance remains unpaid, the office may contact the client or responsible party about the overdue amount. Balances that remain unresolved may require payment in full or a documented payment arrangement within 30 days of the overdue invoice.

If an account remains unpaid, Jennifer Wisser-Stokes Counseling LLC reserves the right to use lawful collection measures, which may include a collection agency or small claims court.

Refund policy

Jennifer Wisser-Stokes Counseling LLC has a no-refund policy for services provided. This includes therapy services and, when applicable, documentation or other requested professional time that has already been completed.

Starting services for minors

When services are requested for a minor, the practice may need to review parenting plans, court orders, and required consents before treatment begins. If parents are separated or divorced, these matters may need to be clarified before services can move forward.

Important limits of website use

This website is not an emergency service and should not be used to seek urgent mental health help, crisis intervention, or immediate clinical guidance. If this is an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

Standard website contact forms are not intended for secure clinical communication. Please keep website messages brief and general.
